I love primary sources. I love watching kids get pumped about primary sources. I love archives. Being a history geek, one of those most fun weeks I’ve ever had was the five days I got to spend working with the Eisenhower Museum archivists a couple of summers ago.
How cool is it to actually read and mess with presidential memos signed and initialed by Dwight Eisenhower?
There are tons of useful online primary source archives, with the Library of Congress being one of the best. And to make it even easier, the people at the LOC recently put together a handy-dandy finders guide that lists a sampling of primary documents by state.
Check it out – some nice stuff!
