I’ve often used the story of Otzi the Iceman as a great hook to lessons on archeology and starting great conversations about how we know what we know about history. It works really well as a mystery that kids have to solve, a lot like an Austrian CSI.
I just found out about a cool resource that you might find helpful if you use the same Iceman story as part of your instruction. Head over to Iceman Photoscan and check out the high resolution images of the Iceman. The images allow you zoom in incredibly tight on the body and artifacts. And when I say tight, I mean really tight. Just some really remarkable images.
The site also has some nice shots of the Iceman tattoos and a cool 3D section that really brings out some sweet details.
