Social studies is more than just dates and places. It’s also collecting and analyzing data in lots of ways. And I don’t think we’ve been real good at training our kids how to do that. Part of the problem has been not having easy to use tools just lying around.
Well . . .
Through a comment on a previous post, I met the folks at the Technology in Class site. And a site they mentioned caught my eye that seems tailor-made for helping kids collect and organize data.
The National Center for Education Statistics has a kids page, believe it or not, and they have created a tool that quickly and easily allows online users to design, save and print a wide variety of graphs.
Pretty cool stuff. And because it’s your tax money at work, the site is free. So no excuses.
